Shop smart this season
The magic of Christmas is nearly here! But as you shop and scroll, watch out for online scams that could spoil the festive fun.

Spot the scams:
- Online shopping is full of great choices, but not every deal is as good as it looks.
- Some websites only connect buyers and sellers and don’t guarantee the goods.
- Reviews can be misleading or even fake so double-check sellers before buying.
- Beware of scams like fake emails and texts asking for your bank details, offers that want payment upfront or fake prize draws and miracle cures.
Easy ways to shop with confidence:
- Stick to websites and sellers you know and trust.
- Never send money to anyone you haven’t verified.
- Keep your phone and computer updated for extra protection.
- If something looks suspicious, report it straight away.
Where to turn if things go wrong:
- PSNI for bogus callers: Call 101 (or 999 in an emergency) or visit www.psni.police.uk
- Action Fraud for scams: Call 0300 123 2040 or visit www.actionfraud.police.uk/contact-us
- Your bank: Get in touch immediately if you spot anything unusual.
