Apprentice spotlight: Joshua Rainey
Joshua Rainey is halfway through his apprenticeship with us, gaining hands-on experience while completing his Level 3 qualification.

Our apprenticeship programme, now in its fifth year, offers paid opportunities for people looking to upskill, reskill or explore a new career path across areas like marketing, events, IT, horticulture and more.
We caught up with Joshua to hear about his experience so far.
Q: What attracted you to the apprenticeship programme?
I wanted to have the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience and develop my skills in IT.
Q: What is the most exciting project you’ve worked on?
One of the highlights was working on the Lisburn Half Marathon medal design. I really enjoyed that.
Q: What skills have you learned that you didn’t expect?
I’ve had to learn how to explain technical ideas to people who aren’t from an IT background, which has improved the way I share and present my work.
Q: What advice would you give someone considering an apprenticeship?
Make the most of the opportunity. The more effort you put in, the more you’ll get out of it and it can really set you up for a strong career.
Joshua’s journey shows how our apprenticeship scheme provides a supportive, practical environment to learn, grow and prepare for a fulfilling career - all while earning and gaining real-world experience.
