New digital Sculpture Trail in Royal Hillsborough

Grab your wellies and an inquisitive mind and set off for Hillsborough Forest and its newly-opened digital sculpture trail.

You’ll find that the forest is now home to 10 dramatic, large-scale sculptures - enhanced by an augmented reality app (accessible via smartphones).

This app will take you on a journey through the forest, leading you from one sculpture to the next and providing an exciting and interactive experience for visitors of all ages.

At the start of the trail, you’ll meet the 25-foot-tall ‘Peep the Hare’ before moving on to ‘Ssssh’, who is 40 feet in length! There is also an interactive play space where children can have their photos taken inside and around these giant animals.

Another sculpture is called ‘Power Up’. It’s an interactive motion sculpture where visitors can power LED lights by cycling or using hand pedals. ‘Unit of Life’ is a cube made of Fibonacci-related shapes. Nearby are the ‘The Poet’ and ‘Magic Garden’ sculptures, which you can also take time to explore and enjoy.

Once you complete the trail, you’ll be rewarded with a range of discounts in the nearby village of Royal Hillsborough. It might be a treat at one of its award-winning restaurants, an offer at one of the cafés or maybe even a little retail therapy.

Using the app, you can also follow the Royal Hillsborough Village Trail and discover the unspoiled secrets and the history of this beautiful village.
