MB Chicken Lisburn Half Marathon, 10K & Fun Run
The MB Chicken Lisburn Half Marathon, 10K & Fun Run will take place on Wednesday 17 June, starting from Lagan Valley LeisurePlex.
Registrations will open soon.

Mayor’s Colour Run
Our team organise a Colour Run on behalf of the Mayor and their nominated charity each year. It takes place in April or May.

LCCC Sport Lisburn and Castlereagh Sports Awards 2025
Sport Lisburn & Castlereagh has paid tribute to local sporting talent during the 2025 Sports Awards supported by Drayne’s Farm. The annual event took place on Friday 14 November at a prestigious ceremony at La Mon Hotel and Country Club.
The event shined a spotlight on inspirational young people with an interview from special guest CBBC and multi-talented star Cara Mailey.
Broadcaster, Lynette Fay hosted the evening and helped showcase the amazing achievements and motivational stories behind each award winner. The winners included:
School Sports Team of the Year - Wallace High School Boys’ Rugby 1st XV Rugby Team
Junior Sports Personality of the Year – Paige Nickels
Junior Sports Club of the Year - Lisburn Cricket Club U13 Boys Team
Alison Slater Junior Merit Award - Mia Rooney
David Edwards Senior Merit Award – Malachy Kearney, Adrian Williams, Jennifer McCormick and Sathish Kumar Manohar
Disability Sports Personality of the Year – Siomha Brady
Disability Sports Team of the Year – Carryduff Colts Inclusion Football Team

Santa Dash
The magical Santa Dash will be making a sparkling return to Lough Moss Leisure Centre in December 2026.
The entry fee is £5 and will include your very own Santa hat, a medal and a hot chocolate as you cross the finish line.
All proceeds from the Santa Dash will go directly to the Mayors chosen charity.

Sports Club Games
These are great opportunities for Sports Clubs across Lisburn & Castlereagh to test their adaptability in an unfamiliar competitive context, while also bonding as a team and having fun!
The challenge includes a wide range of activities and is open to everyone, making it suitable for all fitness levels.
At each game stage there will be Cup and Plate winners with the ‘Sports Club Champions’ being crowned at the end of all three stages.

Training courses for sports clubs and coaches
Local sports clubs and coaches can benefit from a timetable of specialised training courses taking place each financial year. These courses will equip clubs with the skills to develop their organisation and get the best out of their players and athletes.

Walking for All
Walking for All
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is proud to support ‘Walking for All’ a new cross-border programme designed to inspire healthier, more connected communities through walking.
Funded through the PEACEPLUS programme and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB), this major initiative led by Outscape will engage over 14,000 people across rural areas in Northern Ireland and border counties.
What is Walking for All?
Walking for All is all about making walking accessible, social, and enjoyable for everyone.
The programme offers:
Short, regular, led walks in local community spaces
A welcoming and inclusive environment
Opportunities to improve physical and mental wellbeing
A chance to meet new people and feel more connected
Open to adults of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities, the programme is designed to tackle social isolation, increase activity levels, and support healthier lifestyles.
Meet Your Local Walking for All Officer
Carla Adams
Carla Adams is the dedicated Walking for All Officer for Lisburn & Castlereagh, leading the programme locally.
Carla will:
Support the development of walking groups across the council area
Work closely with local communities and organisations
Help recruit and train volunteer Walk Leaders
Ensure walks are inclusive, welcoming, and accessible to all
Through her role, Carla will play a key part in building a network of local walking opportunities that bring people together and support long-term community wellbeing.
Become a Walk Leader
We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to help lead walks in their local area.
As a Walk Leader, you will:
Lead short, weekly walks in your community
Help create a friendly and supportive environment
Encourage others to get active and connected
Full training is provided, including a half-day, in-person Walk Leader course.
