First Aid in Sport

Type: In-person course
Duration: 4 hours
Age: 16+

This course covers elements of First Aid applicable to anyone who is responsible for coaching/supervising a team/individuals. The certificate is valid for 3 years and includes:

  • Role and responsibilities of the sports first aider
  • Unresponsive adult
  • Adult CPR
  • Safe use of an AED
  • Bone, muscle and joint injuries
  • Head injuries
  • Managing a casualty outdoors
  • Minor injuries, stings and grazes

Defibrillator and CPR Training

Type: In-person course
Duration: 3 hours
Age: 16+ 

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and safe use of an AED (Defibrillator). The certificate is valid for 1 year and includes:

  • Assessing an unresponsive casualty
  • Recovery position
  • Choking
  • CPR
  • Safe use of an AED (defibrillator)
  • Alerting the ambulance service

Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport

Type: Online virtual workshop
Duration: 2.5 hours online and mandatory 30 minutes pre-learning required
Age: 16+ 

This workshop aims to raise awareness of child safeguarding issues in sport and introduces participants to what is good practice for children’s sport and how to report any concern. This workshop is important for all adults involved in children’s sport, but is essential for Coaches, Leaders, Administrators, and Officials.

The workshop has mandatory pre-learning which must be undertaken before attending the workshop. A Zoom link will be shared in advance via email for all those taking part in the course.

Designated Safeguarding Children’s Officer

Type: In-person workshop

This workshop aims to support those undertaking the role of Designated Safeguarding Children’s Officer including the importance of creating a culture where good practice is the norm; how to respond in a range of situations or concerns; and how to implement safeguarding standards within a club environment.

Leading Wellbeing

Type: In-person practical course
Duration: 2 hours
Age: 16+ 

To mark World Mental Health Day on Saturday 10 October, raise awareness of mental health issues and to encourage actions that improve mental well-being, we are offering a practical session that enables coaches and volunteers to deliver mental health awareness through sports drills. These can be adapted to the vast majority of sports.

The course will include: 

  • Interactive workshops 
  • Engagement games 
  • Delivery skills 
  • Youth-focused approaches

The course is CPD Accredited: Evidence Based (Queens University PHD).

Sports Coaching and Neurodiversity Course

Type: In-person workshop
Duration: 2.5 hours
Age: 16+ 

The workshop is highly interactive and provides practical, strengths-based tools for volunteers and coaches.

Core topics include: 

  • Understanding the sporting environment through a sensory lens. 
  • The human sensory system and sensory processing differences. 
  • Nervous system regulation and how to proactively support it during activities. 
  • Neurodiversity in relation to sport and coaching. 
  • The "Double Empathy Problem" (improving two-way communication and mutual understanding between neurotypical coaches and neurodivergent athletes). 
  • A dedicated Q&A to address specific, real-world coaching scenarios
