The Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Alderman Amanda Grehan, today paid tribute to David Archer Snr, former councillor of Lisburn Borough Council and Lisburn City Council.

“David grew up in Lisburn and served in the council from 1996 to 2005 and was part of the application for Lisburn being awarded City Status.  He credited the late Lord Molyneaux with his entry into politics and served the people of Lisburn with dedication and commitment.

“Residents of Lisburn South voted him onto the council where he served on various committees including Planning, Strategic Policy, Personnel and was Vice-Chair of Police Liaison and Chairman of Environmental Services.

“David Snr served alongside some of our Freemen of Lisburn during his time including Jim Dillon MBE and the late Ivan Davis OBE, Seamus Close OBE and Charlie Poots.

“On behalf of the council, I would like to convey our deepest sympathies to David Senior’s wife Margaret, his children David and Christine, son-in-law Paul, friends and wider family at this time.”
