The much-loved festive family walking adventure Lisburn to Lapland, commissioned by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council and produced by Three’s Theatre Company, has officially sold out its 2025 run following record-breaking demand. Due to the overwhelming interest, six additional shows have now been added.
Now in its third year, the magical walking theatre experience returns with a brand-new storyline titled ‘The Great Christmas Pudding Hunt’. This year, audiences meet Ari, Mrs Claus’s ultra-organised special assistant, and Elfie, the silliest elf in Lapland, who has made a very festive mistake. With help from the children of Lisburn and local businesses, they must put things right before Mrs Claus finds out.
Beginning at Bow Street Mall and finishing in the enchanting Castle Gardens, families enjoy a 40-minute festive journey filled with laughter, puzzles, rhymes and surprises. The route includes a hot chocolate stop and finishes with the spectacular Lisburn Light Trail, making it a perfect festive outing for all ages.
Following last year’s sell-out success and another rapid sell-out this season, six new shows have been added on 16 December and 22 December. Tickets are available via Visit Belfast, and families are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.
The festive programme is commissioned and funded by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council. Councillor Claire Kemp, Chair of the Regeneration and Growth Committee, said: “This much-loved Christmas show continues to bring magic into the heart of Lisburn City Centre. Families of all ages can enjoy a fun, interactive trail while also exploring our fantastic range of shops and eateries. With the beautiful lights illuminating our pedestrian-friendly streets, it’s a wonderful way to celebrate the Christmas season.”
Produced by Three’s Theatre Company, the experience is known for its joyful and immersive performances across Lisburn and beyond. Artistic Director Anna Leckey said: “We’re so thrilled to bring Lisburn To Lapland back again with a brand-new storyline and two completely new elves for families to meet. Ari and Elfie are full of energy, mischief and Christmas cheer, and we can’t wait to welcome even more families on an adventure through the city. This year’s challenge, the Great Christmas Pudding Hunt, encourages kids to work together, interact with local shops and enjoy the magic of Lisburn during the holidays.”
Participants will also visit local eateries and shops along the route, with businesses welcoming families as part of the experience. Glasshouse Coffee and Deli is returning for its third year on the trail, providing hot chocolate to families as they pass through their festively decorated café. Owner Martin Hutchinson said: “Being part of Lisburn to Lapland is always a highlight of our Christmas season. It is wonderful to see so many families coming by Lisburn Square, full of excitement and Christmas cheer. The trail brings such a great atmosphere into the city centre, and it is lovely to be able to play a small part in creating those special memories for children and their families.”
