Now in its 22nd year, Recycle Week (22nd to 28th September 2025) is the nation’s biggest annual celebration of recycling.
This year’s ‘Rescue Me! Recycle’ campaign continues to shine a spotlight on ‘missed capture’ items - everyday materials that often end up in the general waste bin but can, and should, be recycled.
While recycling is second nature to many of us, there are still plenty of recyclable items that get overlooked and end up in the general waste bin. The ‘Rescue Me! Recycle’ campaign is all about identifying those commonly missed items and making sure that they make it to the recycling bin, where they belong.
Each day next week, we’ll be sharing tips to help you spot these often-overlooked materials and encouraging everyone to recycle better than ever before. Follow us on social media for helpful advice and inspiration - we're on Facebook and X.
Alderman Owen Gawith, Chair of the Environment and Sustainability Committee, said: “Recycling isn't just the end of a product's life, it's a new beginning. By making sure we recycle the right things, and rescuing those we sometimes miss, we can make a difference. Together we're creating a greener future.”
Do good. Feel good. Keep recycling. ♻️
