World Refill Day is a global campaign to prevent plastic pollution. It encourages people to reduce waste and transition away from single-use plastic towards refill & reuse systems.
By making simple, everyday changes like refilling bottles, cups and containers, we can reduce waste and help protect the environment.
We recently met volunteers from Hillsborough Forest parkrun, one of the first groups to benefit from the newly installed water refill station at Hillsborough Forest Park. They join Wallace parkrun, Moira junior parkrun and Lough Moss junior parkrun, which also have refill stations on their courses.
We now have 14 water refill stations across the Lisburn and Castlereagh area:
