European Week for Waste Reduction 2025

We're celebrating European Week for Waste Reduction from 22nd to 30th November 2025.

This year’s theme is Electrical Waste, focusing on reducing electrical and electronic waste by promoting reuse, repair and sustainable consumption.

We can help reduce the environmental impact of electrical and electronic waste by:

Caring for our belongings:

  • Protect with cases
  • Clean and maintain them regularly
  • Avoid overcharging

Reducing/reusing:

  • Only buy what we need
  • Postpone upgrading for as long as you can
  • Sell, trade-in or donate unwanted items
  • Choose durable items that will last longer
  • Choose refurbished or pre-loved items

Repairing:

  • Visit a local repair café to see if their volunteer fixers can help.
  • Support your local repair business for complex or technical repairs.

Recycling:

  • Recycle your end-of-life electrical or electronic belongings at the Household Recycling Centre to extract valuable materials and support the circular economy

Check the Binformation Hub for information on what can be recycled at home and at our Household Recycling Centres.
