The council has launched a new DIY/Technical Assistance Fund which will support community and voluntary organisations across the council area.
The fund offers grants of up to £1,500 to help local groups strengthen their facilities and plan for future growth.
The initiative is designed to enable groups to:
• Refresh, refurbish, or make general improvements to existing community spaces
• Commission professional or technical assistance to explore expansion opportunities
• Scope out the feasibility and sustainability of new capital projects
The fund is part of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council's commitment to building resilient communities where people are actively engaged and empowered. By supporting grassroots organisations to improve their physical infrastructure and access expert guidance, the council will foster long-term development and inclusive growth.
Councillor Tim Mitchell, Chair of Communities & Wellbeing Committee said:
“This fund is about more than bricks and mortar—it’s about investing in the people and places that make our communities thrive. We want to give local groups the tools they need to dream bigger, plan smarter, and deliver lasting impact. Whether it’s a fresh coat of paint or a feasibility study for a new community hub, we’re here to help make it happen.”
Applications will be accepted from 8th September and must be submitted by 26th September. Full guidance and application forms can be accessed here Community Grants - lisburncastlereagh.gov.uk
