Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has launched a funding package to provide much needed financial support to sports clubs across the council area. Up to £3,000 is available through the Sports Accelerator Fund to assist eligible clubs meet the costs associated with their ongoing development.

The fund will help cover costs towards sports related or specialised equipment, one off sports events or new programmes, club development officer posts or upskilling of coaches and volunteers through coach education and training.

Councillor Tim Mitchell, Leisure and Community Wellbeing Chair said: "Grassroots sport is the heartbeat of our communities. It brings people together, encourages healthy lifestyles, and creates opportunities for people of all ages to grow in confidence and skill. This funding gives our local clubs the support they need to continue making a real difference on the ground – where it matters most."

The Sports Accelerator Fund is open to constituted sports clubs affiliated with both their National Governing Body and the local Sports Advisory Body, Sport Lisburn & Castlereagh. The grant is exclusively aimed at sports clubs based in the Lisburn & Castlereagh area.
