Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council (LCCC) has recognised the dedication and achievements of local volunteers at its annual Community Training Celebration Event, held at Lagan Valley Island on Wednesday 29th April.
The Community Training Celebration Event brought together individuals from community and voluntary groups across the council area who have completed a wide range of training programmes delivered by Community Services over the past year.
Over 20 training courses have been delivered since September 2025, equipping local volunteers with the knowledge and skills needed to strengthen their groups and support their communities. These have ranged from safeguarding and first aid to governance, Makaton and food hygiene.
Chair of LCCC’s Communities & Wellbeing Committee, Councillor Tim Mitchell, paid tribute to those in attendance: “This evening is about recognising the incredible contribution volunteers make every day. By taking part in training, you are not only developing your own skills, but strengthening the organisations and communities you serve. Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is proud to support you on that journey.”
The event also highlighted the council’s ongoing commitment to building strong, resilient communities through its Community Training Programme, with a new training calendar launching for April to June 2026.
Community groups and volunteers are encouraged to get involved and take advantage of the wide range of free training opportunities available.
