The Commonwealth flag was raised at Lagan Valley Island today to mark Commonwealth Day 2024.
The Mayor Councillor Andrew Gowan was joined at the event by Sir Jeffrey Donaldson, Miranda Gordon, Vice Lord-Lieutenant of County Antrim, Donal Rogan Director of Regeneration & Growth, Patricia Perry, High Sheriff of Co Antrim and the Mayors Chaplain Mr Danny Roberts.

Speaking at the event the Mayor thanked the dignitaries and members for joining him at the ceremony which celebrates membership of a great global institution that connects Northern Ireland with 2.5 billion people in 56 countries - surely the greatest club on earth!
This year the theme for Commonwealth Day 2024, and the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, is 'One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth'.
The theme highlights how the 56 member countries must harness their strengths by building resilience, unlocking potential, leveraging the 'Commonwealth Advantage' and fostering a connected, digital Commonwealth. This transformation is vital to ensure a resilient common future where no one is left behind.
