Our talented Parks and Amenities team has created a truly special flowerbed at Lagan Valley Island, in honour of Mayor Amanda’s chosen charity, Action Cancer. This vibrant display featuring Echeveria Alternanthera Bright, Begonia Nonstop Pink, and Ageratum Blue Champion forms the powerful message:
“Be Your Own Breast Friend.”
Mayor Amanda joined the team to see the finished design and was delighted by the thought, care, and creativity that went into bringing this tribute to life.
The floral display marks the beginning of her year long campaign to support Action Cancer, raising much needed funds for breast cancer screening and highlighting the importance of early detection. Action Cancer is the only charity in the UK and Ireland providing free breast screening to women aged 40–49 and over 70, those outside the NHS screening age range. Each appointment costs the charity £120, which receives no government funding, and is free to the public.
Partnerships like this help keep vital services blooming. A huge well done to our Parks and Amenities team for their amazing work!
