Activity Centres

The Council remains committed to providing local facilities to ratepayers within their own communities. The Activity Centres located within the Lisburn area play a pivotal role for all kinds of community activity. These Centres provide locally focused recreation opportunities and promote a wide range of leisure activities to the public.

The three Activity Centres are:

Grove Activity Centre

Grove Activity Centre situated in Ballinderry Park at Knockmore has been serving the recreational needs of its community and surrounding areas since 1980.

Activities include:

3-Court Multi-Purpose Sports Hall: an be used for various activities such as indoor soccer, basketball, badminton, short tennis and table tennis. In addition, the Grove Community Playgroup for pre school children continues to grow in strength. It operates Monday to Friday 9.30am to 12.00 noon during term time.

Fitness Suite: The recently completed refurbishment of the fitness suite, which is now more open and spacious. New equipment and flat screen TVs have been installed making the facility a great place to work out. The wide range of equipment includes: an extensive variety of CV machines; fixed resistance workstations; Olympic benches, Smith Machine, Free Weights, Reebok Freestanding Punchbag with mitts and a matted area with Medicine and Swiss balls ideal for floor exercises, abdominal work and stretching exercises.

Gym Memberships: Fantastic gym membership packages are available or customers can avail of casual payments per session. Our trained and experienced staff are available to provide complimentary inductions, fitness programmes and offer general help and advice to members and casual users. Membership packages now include over 50 fitness classes and Swimming at the Lagan Valley LeisurePlex.

Outdoor Facilities: include 2 x floodlit Astroturf 5-a-side Football Pitches/Basketball Courts, a floodlit Tennis/Volleyball Court & Running Track. We also have a spacious Play Park with slides, climbing frames and swing

Healthwise Scheme: this is a physical activity referral programme which includes a FREE fitness membership for 12 weeks, personalised exercise plan, supervised gym sessions and advice on leading a healthy lifestyle. Referral must be from a G.P.

Grove Youth Club: The Grove Youth Club takes place every Friday night from 7.30pm to 9.00pm for children of primary school age. Activities include, Soccer, Table Tennis, Badminton, Basketball, Netball, Short Tennis and use of the Bouncy Castle and Soft Play equipment. Price per child £1.50

Birthday Parties: we have a 2 hour party package available which consists of use of the sports hall and bouncy castle, bikes, trikes, scooters, football etc for the 1st hour. The 2nd hour you have access to the Committee Room with fully equiped kitchen. Birthday invitation can be supplied, and early booking is advisable.

Kilmakee Activity Centre

Situated just off the main Lisburn-Belfast Road at Seymour Hill, Kilmakee Activity Centre plays an important role meeting the recreational needs of those living in Derriaghy, Lambeg, Dunmurry, Finaghy and surrounding areas of the City.

Facilities available include:

Multi-Purpose Sports Hall: A multi-purpose hall (22.5m x 16.5m) accommodates 3 badminton courts, volleyball, hockey and 5-aside soccer. This hall is also available for shows, display and events.. The hall is equiped with a Pulastic Sports Floor and has an air ventilation and humidity control system for customers comfort.

Minor hall / Conference Room:This excellent sized hall measuring 12 meters by 9 meters is ideal for club or group activities, conferences, dances, and much more.

Hi tec Fitness Suites x 2: Work out in our modern fitness suites with cardio-vascular and resistance equipment either as a individual or with family and friends. Centre staff will give you an induction. Membership Available.

Kitchen Facilities: a modern kitchen suitable for most functions.

Birthday Party Packages: A birthday party your child will remember for years to come, no fuss and no tidying up for mum and dad. Party set up in banqueting style. Exclusive use of main hall, kitchen, Minor hall, bouncy castle, scooters, play frame, new rip rider bikes, bar football, uni-hoc/soccer and much more.  FREE colourful party invitations when your book!

Summer Recreation Scheme: The Summer Scheme runs for a three week period, usually the last week in July and the first two weeks in August. A really enjoyable and educational experience for all the children. All the facilities at Kilmakee are at ground floor level and entrance/exit is by ramp.

Glenmore Activity Centre

Situated in the heart of the Lagan Valley at Hilden's Glenmore Park, Glenmore Activity Centre offers a wide range of activities.

Facilities and classes include;

Gymnastic Club: Wednesdays 3.00pm - 6.00pm and Thursdays 3.30pm - 8.30pm. Aimed at boys & girls ages 5 years and upwards

Gillian Doogan "School of Dance": Saturdays 9.00am - 12noon.  Girls aged 3 years and upwards.  Includes tap, freestyle and modern

Tae-Kwondo: Tuesdays 5.00pm - 6.00pm.  Boys & Girls aged 5 years and upwards

Badminton Club: Mondays 8.30pm - 10.30pm.  Adults - New Members Welcome

Main Sports Hall: Sports Hall is available to book for Soccer, Basketball, Badminton, Netball and Volleyball

Squash Courts: Available Monday - Saturday.  40 minute sessions

Over 50's Activities: Activities include; Monday 11.30am fitness and activity morning, Circuits on Tuesdays at 11.00am and Pilates on Friday 11.00am.  All classes £2

Bills Boxing School:  Tuesdays 6.30pm.  £4

Little Tiger Cubs Tae Kwon Do Club: Tuesdays 5.00pm for boys and girls aged 3 years and up.

After Schools Indoor Football:  Tuesdays at 3.45pm for boys and girls aged 8 years and up.  £1.50

Canoe Club: Saturdays 10.00am - 4.00pm - Visit www.lisburncitypaddlers.co.uk  or contact the Centre

Birthday Parties: Consists of two hours, includes one hour in the Main Sports Hall, with bouncy castle, bikes, scooters, soft play equipment, soccer, uni-hoc and music. The second hour is in the party room and kitchen, where you can serve your own food, or if you wish, we can organise the food for you, the choice is yours! Birthday invitations are also included.

Games Room/Committee Room: Can be booked for Rock Band Rehearsals or meetings.

Roller Disco Scheduled once a month:  Contact the centre for further details

Fitness Suite: The Fitness Suite is equipped with treadmills, rowing machines, exercise cycles, cross trainers, Smith machine, fixed weight resistance machines, steppers, twisters, and Free Weight Areas. Inductions and Programmes available free of charge.

Gym Membership Membership: Includes various free classes and use of the competition pool at Lagan Valley LeisurePlex.
