The council has removed all charges from its off street car parks during the current COVID-19 pandemic. We recognise that car parks will continue to be used by those providing and seeking use of critical services. We would encourage everyone to park responsibly in one space and only use the space for the minimum amount of time to allow others to provide and access essential services. Remember when out and about to follow social distancing guidance of 2 metres.
From the 4th April 2016 Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has responsibility for Off-Street Car Parks within its area.
There are changes to the charges from Monday 4th April 2016 and these will continue until further notice. The Council is currently developing an off-street car parking strategy which may amend the proposed tariffs. Off-Street car parks which are currently free to park in, will not be affected at this time.
Under a Pilot Scheme in 2014/15 the Minister for Regional Development introduced the £1 for five hours fee in eight Off-Street car parks within the Council area. Under its new powers Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council agreed at a meeting of Council on 23 February 2016 to implement the charge of £1 for three hours until further notice in the following Off-Street Car Parks:
|Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council Car Park Tariffs||Normal Tariff||Special Discount Tariff|
|LISBURN||Per Hour Tariff||3 Hours for £1|
|Smithfield Square East||70p||Yes|
|Main Street, Moira||Free||No|
|Ballynahinch Street, Hillsborough||40p||Yes|
The tariffs displayed in the aforementioned charged Off-Street car parks will remain in the event of the £1 for 3 hours charge not being selected.
