Dangerous Structures
Every owner is legally responsible for maintaining their buildings and keeping them in a safe condition.
If a building or structure has become dangerous to the public, we will seek to ensure that the danger is removed by insisting that repairs are carried out, the danger is removed and the building made safe or that the building or structure is demolished.
We will treat any report of a dangerous structure with the urgency that they deserve and will investigate all reports of dangerous structures within 24 hours.
The legislation that provides us with the powers to enforce action against dangerous structures refers to any building or structure that could cause damage or injury to a passer by as a result of its condition or potential collapse.
