Major Event funding between £1,000 and £10,000

The Tourism Development Unit of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council may provide financial assistance to major event organisers for Major Events held within the Council area between 1st April 2023 and the 31st March 2024.  The value of assistance will be between £1,000 and £10,000.

The Tourism Development Unit will give consideration to financially supporting events that can provide evidence of supporting one or all of the following:

  1. Attraction of out-of-state visitors and participants to the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area
  2. Attraction of domestic visitors and participants to the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area.
  3. Generation of at least 50 ‘bed-nights’ in the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area.
  4. Attract at least 1,250 visitors and participants to the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area.
  5. Generation of positive publicity for the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area strengthening the areas credibility as a tourist and visitor destination.
  6. Attraction of positive media coverage outside the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area.
  7. Requires Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council assistance to ensure the overall success of the event. 
  8. Have not received funding during this financial year for another event.

Where the main purpose of an event is to raise money for a charity and/or charities, financial assistance will not be provided by Lisburn Castlereagh City Council.

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council would encourage early application for support by offering to feature the event in our promotional material where appropriate.  All applications will be treated fairly and a scoring matrix will be used to evaluate them.

Applications must be based in the Lisburn Castlereagh City Council area.  Applications must be received no later than 12 noon on Monday 27 February 2023.

The Tourism Development Unit will give consideration to financially supporting events/ projects that can provide evidence of supporting one or all of the following:

A/ Attraction of domestic visitors and participants to the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area.

B/ Generation of positive publicity for the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area.

C/ Requires Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council financial assistance to ensure the overall success of the event.

Submission of expressions of interest will be assessed on a rolling basis up to and including 1st November 2023, however the funding will close when the proposed budget has been allocated.
