Revised City Centre Masterplan

On 12th November the council launched a refreshed Lisburn City Centre Masterplan that will help to shape and guide the future development and prosperity of the city centre over the next few years. The masterplan is a significant update of the previous version, published in 2010.

The Lisburn City Centre Masterplan is an essential tool in guiding the future of Lisburn, the third largest city in Northern Ireland. The masterplan provides a vision designed to ensure that Lisburn plays a more significant role within the region and develops the range of facilities and attractions expected of a regionally significant city.

Car Park Strategy

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council commissioned AECOM to produce a comprehensive Car Park Strategy to review the usage of car parks across the Council area that the Council are responsible for since they were transferred from the Department for Infrastructure in 2015. The aim of the strategy is to address the overall requirement for car parking in terms of availability, accessibility and convenience.

The fianl car park strategy proposes a number of recommendations that the Council will consider alongside actions that could be carried out by other stakeholders such as DfI, Translink and private car park operators.

Regeneration

Through Local Government Reform the new Council have a significantly increased role in urban regeneration and community development. This responsibility will transfer from the Department for Social Development in 2017. Schemes will include town and city regeneration and area-based regeneration schemes.

Whilst the Council continues to progress ongoing regeneration projects and City Centre initiatives, along the Lagan Corridor and across other areas of the City, we work continually to identify new regeneration initiatives that will enhance the new Council area and support economic growth and development. We continue to work with many partners and stakeholders to ensure that economic and environmental regeneration opportunities are fully utilised for the benefit of the whole Council area.

The Regeneration Programme delivers the following initiatives. For more information click on the links below:
