Temporary pavement café licenses
Wtihin Lisburn & Castlereagh we issue licenses for pavement cafés. We have introduced a temporary process for licence applications to help businesses recover during coronavirus (COVID-19). Business operators must ensure they are familiar with government legislation and coronavirus (COVID-19) guidance. They must adhere to all requirements relevant to their workplace, to protect the health and safety of staff and customers. This includes social distancing advice.
What is a pavement café licence?
A pavement café licence authorises a person who operates a business supplying food or drink (in or from premises) to place furniture (table, chairs etc) on a public area for use by customers. This includes cafés, restaurants, pubs, retail outlets providing refreshments, takeaways and supermarkets with a deli counter.
Pavement café licence fees
There will be no charge for a pavement café licence duing the COVID-19 period.

The completed application form should be returned to Environmental Health Service, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Civic Headquarters, Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn BT27 4RL.

Public notice
This site Notice (see page 3 of application) must be displayed from the date of application for the whole period of 28 days in a prominent place at or near to the premises so that it can be conveniently read by the public.
On completion of 28 day notice period please detach and return the receipt slip (located at the bottom of the Notice) to Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council’s Environmental Health Service Unit.
