Introduction

We have allocated £2m of our 24/25 budget for the Economic and Regeneration Growth Fund.  It aims to support regeneration and economic growth initiatives for our city centre.

This pilot scheme within Lisburn City Centre is to incentivise property owners and potential occupiers to bring vacant city centre premises and spaces back to life through the renovation or repurposing of vacant space within the designated city centre area.

The pilot scheme is for properties within the areas of Antrim Street, Bow Street, Railway Street, Bridge Street, Castle Street, Market Street and Market Square areas.

We reserve the right to amend the pilot scheme if required prior to the closing date.

Consideration may be given to other locations in Lisburn City Centre on an individual basis and/or in future programmes.

Aim of the fund

As well as encouraging and diversifying use of vacant premises this scheme will contribute to higher quality streetscapes, greater city centre vibrancy, sustain jobs, help create new employment opportunities and support city centre regeneration.

Key objectives include:

  • attracting further investment into Lisburn City Centre
  • increase footfall to the city centre
  • address dereliction
  • contribute to the evening economy
  • improve the city centre retail / hospitality offering
  • increase the opportunity for city centre living as part of a wider mixed-use scheme

Available funding

The funding pot is currently £2m and the pilot scheme will help to shape future rounds of this fund.

The capital grant scheme can be used to fund both external and internal improvements to buildings as well as new developments required to bring vacant space back into use for long term occupation.

The award of the grants will be at our discretion.
