Your Wedding Day at Castlereagh Registration Office
The Castlereagh Civic Centre is a beautiful setting for your special day. The building was opened in 2000 and is very modern in design with a spectacular rotunda incorporating stain glass to represent landmarks within the area. There are also beautiful gardens available for your photographs.
Booking Your Wedding Ceremony
You may make a provisional booking by calling in person and filling in a form or emailing.
Please note this will reserve the room and the registrar for that date and time until official notice is given.

How and When to Give Official Notice
Notice of Marriage may be given within 12 months of the date of the Marriage and is valid for 12 months. The Bride and Groom must each complete a Notice Form and bring or send them to the Registration Office once within the 12 months, but preferably no later than 8/10 weeks before the date of the marriage. If you are having your wedding ceremony in Lisburn Registration Office, then notice should be given to Lisburn Registration Office. If you are having your wedding in Castlereagh Registration Office, then Notice should be given to Castlereagh Registration Office.
Notice forms are available from any of the Northern Ireland Registration Offices or by downloading them here. The fees should be accompanied with the Notice Forms and all required documents.
Once the Registrar receives the two notice forms, fees and documents, the Notice takes effect from that date. Then, the earliest possible wedding ceremony will be 28 days later (depending on availability)
To marry in Northern Ireland, you and your partner must be:
• aged 18 years old or above on the day of your wedding (consent is needed if either of you are aged 16 or 17 years old)
• unrelated to one another in a way that would prevent you from getting married (If parties are closely related to one another, they may not be allowed to be married, please check with the Registration Office)
• free to marry, for example, neither of you are already in a civil partnership or are legally married
• not of the same sex
• capable of understanding the nature of a marriage ceremony and of consenting to the marriage
Essential Documents to be Produced
All documents must be originals i.e. not photocopies and if not in English, accompanied by a certified translation. These documents must be produced when giving notice. Failure to do so will mean postponement.
A Full Birth Certificate (Long Version) showing parents details.
If you are a widow, widower or surviving civil partner, the death certificate of your former spouse or civil partner.
If divorced - a decree absolute or a dissolution of Civil Partnership Certificate. Please note a decree nisi is not acceptable.
If woman has reverted back to maiden name - last marriage certificate must be produced.
If 16 or 17 years - Consent Forms are available from Registrar.

There are various rooms you may be married in within Lagan Valley Island, as above. The above rooms are not always available to see on a daily basis.
The Cherry Room is situated on the first floor and for your ceremony seats a maximum of 74 people.
Take your time up the sweeping marble staircase, also accessible by lift, to the Cherry Room.
A private dressing room adjoins the suite where you can relax and make those all important last minute adjustments before entering the splendour of the Cherry Room.
The Cherry Room opens out to the secluded terrace with stunning views overlooking the River Lagan, the beautiful Millennium Garden and riverside walkways. You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to taking those memorable photographs.
A terrace can be used for photographs after the ceremony if you have booked the Cherry Room.
The Hawthorn Room is situated on the second floor and for your ceremony seats a maximum of 15 people.
The Chestnut Suite is situated on the second floor and for your ceremony seats a maximum of 105 people.
