Rates Information 2017/18

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has set its district rate for domestic and non-domestic properties for 2017- 2018 at a Special Meeting of Council held in February.

The rate increase has been set at 2.93% for domestic properties and 2.91% for non-domestic properties.

The Rates Relief Scheme

The Rates Relief Scheme was established in 2015 for affected ratepayers with tapered rates of relief over the full first term of the new councils up to March 2019. Those affected will receive relief, directly on their rate bills, covering 80%, 60%, 40% and 20% of the current rate differential which will be sequentially applied over the four financial years of the Scheme.

A rates bill is made up of two elements; the District Rate set by councils and the Regional Rate, over which councils have no control and which is set by central government.  This covers services such as roads, education and health.
