During the Covid-19 pandemic the council will not be accepting any new applications for additional brown bins until further notice.
Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council has implemented a one brown bin per household policy. Households can request that additional brown bins for excess garden waste continue to be collected, however this service is now chargeable.
Your brown bin should be primarily used for food waste and garden waste. Food waste is not permitted in landfill bins. Additional garden waste can be recycled free of charge at your nearest Household Recycling Centre which are located at:
- The Cutts, Derriaghy, BT17 9HN
- Drumlough, Dromara Road, Hillsborough, BT26 6QA
- Carryduff, 8 Comber Road, BT8 8AN
Alternatively Home composters are available from the Council for £10*
The collection period for the additional garden waste bin is from 1st April to 31st March and renewed annually each financial year. A £50 charge per annum or part thereof will apply for each additional bin. If you need an additional bin supplied, a cost of £25 will apply.
Additional brown bins which do not display a Paid collection bin sticker will not be collected.
If you wish to apply for an additional brown bin collection or continue your existing service, please complete the application form here
Application forms can be posted to you on request.
