The Local Lives: 100 years initiative was setup as part of our NI Centenary Programme to mark the incredible milestone of LCCC residents who have turned or are over 100 years old in 2021.

Over the past year, we have given out ten NI Centenary Coins to residents in the Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council area.

The programme was launched by local resident Doreen McKee, our first recipent of a Centenary Coin, and her family told us all about her life in the video above.

Doreen has been one of twelve recipients which also include Anne Watson, Annie Irwin, Elizabeth Jess, Kathleen Chapman, Mary-Jane McCrory, William Berry, William Reid, Eileen Wiseman and Mabel McClure.

We have also documented the visits to some of our Centenarians as shown in the video below as Mayor Alderman Stephen Martin visited Eileen Wiseman and learnt about her story.
