An insight into the future of Urban Regeneration with Howard Saunders.

March 6, 2019

Leading Retail Futurist Howard Saunders will lead a panel of experts at the ‘Sharing Experience, Shaping the Future’ conference which will take place in Lisburn, 25 March 2019.

The conference, hosted by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, will explore the future of urban regeneration across Northern Ireland; looking at pioneering initiatives in the award-winning Lisburn City Centre; the success of local community space Penny Square and other thriving independent retailers.   Planning and Development Consultancy Turley will put forward a positive vision for the future of retail by debunking the myth that the high street is dead and with a wealth of experience in digital technologies, Steve Peel of Pulse Smart Hub will be in attendance to provide an overview of the latest thinking on Smart Cities and the opportunities this can bring to the business and visitor community within city centres and towns.

Announcing the conference Chairman of the Council’s Development Committee, Alderman William Leathem, commented: “To deliver an event of this standard to retailers, developers and anyone with a role to play in shaping our urban landscape, demonstrates the commitment of the council in shaping the local economy. Now more than ever councils need to take the lead in re-imagining our urban spaces right across the Province.  Thinking creatively and working alongside the private sector is key to driving forward a new future where people come together for many reasons in our city centres and towns.  I am delighted to welcome Howard Saunders as our keynote speaker. With over 25 years’ experience of retail design and branding I know this will be an inspiring morning for anyone who comes along.”

Renowned for his high energy delivery and thought-provoking content Howard Saunders will certainly catch the attention of the audience and bring his energy and passion to encourage attendees to take a fresh look at how they make their town and City Centres vibrant, alive and engaging. Howard said: “The age of disruption is here to stay. As retailers abandon our town centres, right across the globe, it’s critical we have a clear and practical vision for the regeneration of our communities over the next decade and beyond. It need not be complicated, but we must act now. I am looking forward to addressing these important issues to a packed room at the Sharing Experience, Shaping the Future conference in Lisburn later this month.”

The ‘Sharing Experience, Shaping the Future’ conference will take place in the Island Hall, Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn, 25 March 2019 from 9am to 1pm. Places are limited for this free conference so please secure your place by registering at Eventbrite
