Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council Celebrate NILGA Award Win

November 1, 2017

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council is celebrating its most recent achievement following its win at the Northern Ireland Local Government Authority (NILGA) Awards for Best Local Authority Service Team, for its Grounds Maintenance Unit.

The Award was presented for the team’s work throughout the Council area in making it more attractive with its vibrant flowerbeds and unique landscaping displays.  Over the course of a few months, the Grounds Maintenance Unit saw their ideas come to life, bringing benefits to the ratepayer, the park and facility users, the Council and the staff themselves.

Alderman James Tinsley, Chair of the Leisure and Community Development Committee at Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council said, “The NILGA Awards recognise the important contribution that local councils make in modernising and improving services for local residents.  To be acknowledged by the Northern Ireland Local Government Authority and presented the award for our ongoing work in the Grounds Maintenance Unit is a great achievement.  I am delighted at what our team has achieved and that their hard work is reflected in their success.”

Chairman of the Environmental Services Committee at Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Alderman Tommy Jeffers said: “I am extremely proud of the Council’s work to continue to make the area a better place for all to live, work and visit.  We have wonderful towns in our area and to see them so well looked after really enhances our reputation. We are so pleased to have fantastic teams who share our vision and to have them acknowledged at the NIGLA awards makes it all their hard work even more worthwhile.”

Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council was also finalist in the categories for Best Initiative by a Councillor/Councillor Group for its Heart City and Community Defibrillators project as well as for Best Enterprise Initiative by a Council for its Invest Lisburn Castlereagh campaign.
